Default RPM's @ 70 MPH?

I bought the 1998 Softail used and it's hop up with 84hp and 80 lb/tq and I am running 2600 rpms @ 70 mph. I was thinking about putting a 6 speed in over the winter but my buddy has an 02 Softail and he runs 3000rpms.

So what does the stock bike run @ 70 mph so I can check to see if someone has changed the pulleys or sprockets.

I don't want to put a 6 speed and find out I'll be bogging on the highway.

That seems to be pretty low for 70 to me. My bike is around 3K or so at 70. I bet someone has already changed your gearing somewhere. I'd think you'd be bogging a bit with even higher gearing.

I don't understand why people want 6 speeds anyway. The HD motor makes plenty of torque in a big broad band. 5 speeds is more than enough to match motor to wheel. It's not like my 4AGE 20 valve with gobs of HP but nothing under about 5K RPM, then hang on. That motor needs lots of gears, and a 6 speed could help it.

Just looking to reduce the vibrations a little. I have no reference at what it is stock so adding a 6 speed would bring me down to about 2200pms @ 70mph and I thought that might be too low, or too good to be true, since there would be no vibration at all around 2100 rpms.

Default Go with the Baker DD6

I'd go with the Baker DD6 check out the Baker site. You don't need and OD 6 speed you have to be topping out all the time and speeding tickets are a bitch.

You must have the 68 tooth rear sprocket on your bike....most all the rear sprockets are 70 tooth except for the international rear sprocket the MoCo had for a short period of time.
