If you were closer we might have been able to help. Talk to them direct, they really have done some extraordinary stuff when it comes to warranty items. They have an open house every year in Sept/Oct, you could take a trip and see what the could do for you.
Way over 10K now and going strong. Am I used to the power or did I tighten the valves to much and lose power, Maybe John T. can answer that. None the less, real happy with the purchase!!
Tight valves can and will cause a power loss. As time goes by we also get used to the power, if you don't believe this then hop on a stock Harley. One of the biggest problems I have when taking a customers bike out for a shakedown run is i keep asking myself " Man this thing is a dog". Then the customer gets on it as says" Man this thing is running great". That being said re-do the valves and then enjoy the bike. What you can do is put the bike in third gear, find a safe road, then from about 2,500-3,000 rpms get on it an go three telephone poles and time it or see what RPM's you are turning at the third pole. Write them down, whenever you think the bike is down on power, repeat the procedure and the results should be similar. Hope this helps.
I just put a 107 in my 91 FXSTS. I'm replacing a 100" RevTec. The RevTec had over 65000 hard miles on it when my Crane H4 went out and I burned up the rear piston. (put a hole in it) I'm about 160 miles from the first 500 on the Ultima. I'll try to update when I get the first 2000 on it.
I had a problem with the rocker arm main support on the rear head that broke on my polished 127, they came and picked up the engine at my door, completely rebuilt it and sent it back to me no cost. It is noisy but I have almost 20,000 on it now and it hasn't come apart, doesn't leak any oil, no mist out of the breather. Only one problem I haven't figured out is that it pulls the oil out of the primary into the engine??? several new seals opened up the lower breather but it still does it. Since I have been running royal purple ATF in the primary this is a problem when it's mixed with motor oil. I guess the only thing to do is try motor oil in the primary although the instructions with my S&S clutch say to run ATF. I run a Jag oil cooler which really helps on hot days.
Fantastic news. Midwest is replacing the head. Said the flaw is from a cold pour. Just got the email from Matt, but I don't know if they want to do the swap or I will. There has been poz feedback on this thread about them standing behind thier product and this is more proof that it's true.
