Two of the original lifters went bad within 14,000 miles on our Ultima 113 engine, actually the lifters started going early on but I did not realize it before the warranty ran out.. The rocker supports also were bad, in addition to those repairs I replaced the rockers, rocker shafts, cam and pushrods. I am pretty sure the rockers are holding up well, but have my fingers crossed on the replacement lifters. I was hoping to get at least 20,000 on the lifters, but don't mind changing them sooner, especially if I can continue to use the Ultima lifters that only cost about $22.00. We ride about 10,000 miles a year, so if I can get it to the point I don't have to make any repairs during the riding season I will continue to be happy, even if I must replace the lifters every winter. I also replaced the original ignition module with the programmable module because I wanted more flexibility, so I don't know how well that would be working.

It may sound like a lot of repair work, but with a rider that puts on 3,000 or so miles a year the same repairs would have been needed in 4 years rather than 1 1/2. OK, I know the guy that rides 20,000 miles a years would have needed it done in less than a year, but I know more riders that hit closer to the 3,000 miles than the 20,000 miles a year.

Into my 3 rd Wi riding season w/my polished 127, have had it die, intermitently since I got the bike, came to a head last August then stopped when the temps cooled, started again about amonth ago and finnally figured out it was the ignition module, ordered a programable Ultima unit, put it in and am into 500 miles w/out a problem. love the power, love the look of the polished engine, will start montoring the temps, I am even considering riding it to Sturgis, first time I have felt that way about it since I purchased the bike, but a lot of the issues were build related.

It also seems a little harder to start. After the motor warms up, it idles fine and seems to make good power. Compression test showed 175 psi with a dry/cold test. Changed plugs and wires cause it was easy and I had them. I'm gonna pull tank tomorrow and OHM the coil. Any more ideas?
Update on ignition problem; Coil OHMed good (3.2 both sides), Ordered and replaced ign. module and still had the same problem. Checked spark magnitude on both cyls. and found rear spark was weak. Moved module sensor wires to opposite poles as well as the plug wires. Retest showed weak spark remained on left side of coil (now the front cyl). Replaced the coil and problem solved.

I am having a problem with my 127 that I was hoping someone could help me out with. Ultima ships these motors with the main seal set up for an open belt so I put in a new seal with the lip towards the primary it was ok for a while but soon I was gaining volume in My oil tank. I put in a new seal again and still pulling all the oil out of the primary, anyone run into this problem with an Ultima engine?? I run ATF in the primary as I have an S&S clutch. Having ATF mixed with Motor oil is not a good thing.

Beast,
My 113 was shipped with an incorrect type spacer for the roter/stater needed for my FLHTCUI therefore, I installed the correct spacer and a new seal installed in the normal way. I have no oiling problems to date.
It almost sounds like you are creating a vacuum in the crankcase. Didn't you install a different air-breather system? Check to see if the if everything is routed properly. Also, there is a crankcase vent located just above the oil pump (picture is on page 8 of owners manual), check to see if the vent line is plugged, you do travel, and critters need homes too. Good luck!

I opened the vent in the cases and that seems to have cured the problem, I guess those 4.25 pistons move around a lot of air and I push it hard.

I bought a 127 polished package (motor, primary and sixer) in late '07. The bike was mocked and finished in late '08, titled in '09. I only have 1711 miles on it and noticed a crack in the front head from the exhaust manifold up to the rocker box. I haven't thrashed on it much, hell it's barely broke in!!. Any one else had this trouble? Of course the warranty is up due to time, but this should not have happened. The shop that I ordered through is no longer around. How do I contact Ultima?

Default problems

Matt at 314-773-3064 was the person that I was told to contact when I had issues, although they supplied me w/parts, I was liable for labor, I was not that impressed w/Matt, didn't even get a call back last time I had an issue. Good luck, mine is a 127 polished, appx 5,000 miles.
