Ultima 107 in my 1992 FXR, after the bottom end gave out on my Evo.

Exceptional power, smooth running, sounds awesome through the Vance & Hines pipes.

It has made it to 723 kilometers. Ha ha. Fingers bloody crossed!

On Friday I am off with the future father-in-law, him on his new bike, for about a 3,000km 5-day round trip. According to this thread, that's plenty of time for a lifter to go bad!

We'll see!

just put in a 113 doing brake in now sweet engine 1989 fxr came complete carb and ignition I will update as I get some miles on it

Got 12000 hard(is there any other reason to by such a monster?) kms on my Ultima 127. Teared it down yesterday, found that the rockerarm rollers had some play about 0,009" and the rockerarms had endplay ranging from 0,01" (0,25mm) on rear exhaust to 0,15mm on front exhaust.
Cam has a some wear marks that is a little strange, rear lifters has worn the cam on the left side of the lobes, front lifters has worn the cam lobes on the right side. Rollers are dead senter on cam, anybody seen this?
Rest of engine seems to be in mint condition.

Could be lifter block alignment, or possibly the lifter blocks could have the slots that alicn the lifter cut at the wrong angle or be cut too wide.. Any of these will let a lifter ride slightly off square to the lobes. This will increase side loading on the lifters and shorten lifter life.

Update on the teardown; found that lower gas tank mount nuts welding broken, oil tank front mounts has a crack and a few nuts and bolts missing, guess this is due to the vibrations on high rps....
Face plate on starter now consist of 3 parts (Ultima 2,4 kw tunder fire starter)
Gearbox (original -93 model) inspected and found OK.
Miacycles: what tolerances do you use on the Ultima 127, same as the MOCO?

Well, did some searching and it lead me to this thread....anyone in here running the Demons 114? made by ultima exlusively for Demon, so he says. Says it WAY better than the 113 and ALOT SMOOTHER...Just trying to get some feedback befor i spend my hard earned money!Nothing wrong with my stocker, i just want more power.

I wouldn't trust Demons even if NASA designed it for them, they have a poor way of doing business that is based on customers paying for their mistakes or tactics that most business won't participate in.

My example is purchasing a part that was listed for my year of bike, the part arrived fitting earlier models and advertised later models, I had to pay restocking charges to get my money back and didn't have the correct year of part I needed. Customer service is the real life version of "Peggy" in the popular tv commercial, they said it was an honest mistake and relisted the part again incorrectly for resale after I sent it back. Do some searches on forums or lower your guard and purchase the engine.

I can't comment on Demons, but will simply add that buying a new engine is an expensive experience and it is wise to be cautious. If you live in driving distance of them, so you can see the whites of their eyes over the counter, it might be worth buying one. That comment applies to any of the smaller builders, who will probably appreciate local customers they can meet in person.

In my case, living in the UK, I wouldn't even buy an Ultima, not least because there is no solid after sales service over here. S&S by contrast may be more expensive, but they have a UK based warranty service. My warranty has expired, with no need to use it! If I lived in driving distance of Ultima, or better still close to a few of our HDF experts, I would be more inclined to buy one, confident of getting competent pre and post sales support.

I have a 107 in my 98 roadking. I had a problem with the aluminum rocker mounts in the front head. It was our of warranty but Ultima sent all the upgraded parts to repair it including roller rockers and lifters. The motor has 27000 miles on it and that was the only defect. Also people talk about the lifter noise. You have a high lift cam and a flat slide mikuni. I found what I thought was lifter noise went away when I upgraded to a forcewind intake and air cleaner. It doesnt go totally away but is substantially reduced. That 107 is a strong motor but not over the top to where its a chore to ride on the street. I chose it because its a very close to square motor, meaning the bore and stroke are very close to the same. I recommend it!!
