Question Throttle Cables Part 2.

Ok Cables ordered, just hope they are right length.
It says in my service book (Clymer) to remove fuel tank when replaceing cables. Is this totally necessary as it seems like a bit of overkill?
I got the old cables out ok, but these were not the original ones so were probably routed differently.
Thanks
Tony

Should have said it is a 1986 FLST Heritage Softail.

Try taking the front bolt(s) out of the tank, loosen the rear and lifting it up as far as you can. This should make it easier.

It may be tough to get the cables attached at the carb. It takes less swear words with the tank off.

I tend to agree.

Pulling the tank isn't hard, just messy.

Even if you run it out of gas and push it home,it will still pee all over the place when you remove it

- did mine without removing the tank.

- but , you'd need long needle nose pliers , and small hands (haha).

- swear words are optional.
