Default Batwing Removal Help

I can use some help here, I need to get the outer half of the batwing off my 1989 FLHTP so I can upgrade the sound system, I had found a great link where someone did a step by step for removing the outter bat wing and installing stereo and speakers but unfortunately its not at all the same setup as on my 89, can someone give me some instructions or perhaps a documented removal procedure? I'm a real cluts at snapping things so any help would be greatly appreciated.

The obvious bolts that need to be removed for the outer shell are the windshield and the light bar bolts. Remove the headlight (trim ring, then slip the spring off holding the headlight itself off), then loosen the four nuts holding the fairing on. Pull the fairing off.

I just took my fairing off my 87 FLHTC. My first time taking it off and it was pretty straight forward...

As was stated pull the windshield bolts, remove the windshield. Pull the headlight all the way out un-plug it and set it aside. when you pull the light bar I Like to have some heavy towels on the front fender to prevent scratches when you set the light bar down. Then all you have to do is reach through the headlight opening and loosen the four bolts holding the outer on. If you want I can scan the breakdown out of the parts manual for you to look at.

A gear combination wrench, 7/16", saves a bunch of time on those 4 nyloc nuts inside the faring. After getting one of those, my R&R time dropped to a fraction of what it was before.

Towel on fender, 4 bolts (2 each side) of the light bar to the forks, lay the light bar on the fender on top of the towel, remove trim ring, remove screws holding bucket in, remove bucket, remove nuts/screws holding the windshield, loosen 4 nyloc nuts with the geared box end, remove the front of the faring.

Thanks to all who contributed to the fairing removal, although I have one question, I snapped one of the 4 nylon locknut studs off at its base, its the lower one of the four, anyone ran across this before? The stud holder appears to be attached by epoxy or something of that nature, I think its metal as my magnet attaches. I really don't want to mess up the outter fairing trying to remove whats left of the stud so question is do you's figure there's enough hold down power for the inner haveing only 3 of the 4 studs , the windshield 5 bolts and the 4 bolts on the spot light crome brackets? I think the answer is yes but figure I'll ask anyways.

It's probably OK with the 3 remaining studs.
