have a 97 fat boy , 2000i dyna igniton, s&s super E,cycleshack turn-out muffled pipes, and lookin at woods W6 cam or andrews EV27 , both bolt in , mostly around town (200 mile radius of home ), highway and twistys some bar hoppin, two up. have not talked to anyone that runs the woods cam , looking for your opinion on this cam. have info and opinions on EV27.
The Wood cam is ground by Andrews. I've never run a Wood cam, but a buddy of mine has (gsxrboy96), and his cam was noisy as hell due to Wood's agressive ramp designs, which is typical, to my understanding.
Both are good cams, and pretty similar.
I guess if it were me, I'd probably go with the 27...good reputation for a bolt in, and not so noisy.
Just my .02
The Woods cams have more aggressive ramps than other manufacturers, so you really need to adjust them one at a time using the "heel Of the cam" method rather than the TDC method. They will still have noise, but if you do not have a fairing it wont be objectionable. The W6 pulls from around 2250-2500 to around 5200-5500 depending on carb, pipes, ignition, etc. We use them a lot and so far we've had no complaints as the performance seems to outweigh any noise. Hope this helps.

if them are your only two options, id stay with the 27, the woods is hands down winner in the power department, but NOISY, NOISY , NOISY, but the 27 is quieter the the 6, if you would open up your horizons a bit, check out the vthunder 3020, woods power, no noise, have the dyno sheets to prove it, hope that helps. chad.

What kind of numbers with the vthunder? I pull a hair under 86 ft pounds TQ with the 27,HP is I think just over 77. This is with air cleaner, pipes and the rest is stock. Personally, I am very happy with the 27. The bike runs great!!! I am curious simply because I have heard good things about the vthunder.

peak torque was i belive 91 or 92, hp was around 82-83ish i belive, i cant find the dyno sheet now that i opened my big mouth..lol, but where the vthunder really shines, is it made 80 ft/lbs torque from 2700 up all the way till 6k, and that my friends is what make a bike really move.
