My son has a 94 fxstc. We have it on the lift with the back wheel raised and when we turn the wheel there is a popping sound coming from the area of the front sprocket. It's kinda subtle but there. As you rotate the rear wheel it makes a pop-pop sound, twice per one complete revolution. Any ideas?

Reason: spelling
The belt is new and there is no debris. A closer look at the front gear looks like it had a narrower belt at one time. About 1/4 inch of the gear has no wear. Since this is a new belt, is it possible for the teeth of the belt to be hanging on to the sprocket then popping out? Thanks for any and all replies.
stock 94 FXST should be a 1 1/2 inch belt.... if there was ever a narrower belt on it, it would have been a 1 1/8 ....rear pulley would had to have been changed to accommodate the belt width ....pitches for both belts are the same, so skipping teeth is unlikely unless the belt is shamelessly loose
sounds like you're back at stock, though
open the primary and find out what's going on..... it's easy enough to check
