Default Wire wheels for Road King

Hi everyone.

What wire wheels will fit my 1995 RK. Ive been wanting to swap my standard mags for a pair of spoked wheels for a while now but cant really get any reliable info. Can i fit a later/earlier model's or are they not changable?
Thanks for your time

Later model big bikes have a 1" axle and yours is a 3/4" installing a later model swing arm and wheel is a direction some owners have went for the stronger swing arm and axle but alot of work. Be careful of the cheap aftermarket wheels, not always a bargain.

GR knows more in detail on this subject

I would guess any wire Evo wheels from 1993 on will fit. Earlier ones have a different offset of the pulley and I'm not sure if that is in the pulley itself or the hub. From around 2000 Harley went from our taper-roller wheel bearings to ball-races and made further changes, from what I can make out.

Frankly I suggest thinking twice about this! On the UK H-D forum several owners have had problems with wire wheel rims splitting and have replaced them with cast wheels. Probably means you will have no problems selling yours if you wish.

It can be hard work finding wheels in the UK at sensible prices. I have bought two, secondhand, and both from US Ebay. The wheel itself can cost less than the shipping! Plus there are UK import taxes, so it ain't cheap.

Offset is in the pulley rather than the hub.

Thanks for your input, I will give it some thought. Just like the look of the classic wire wheel with ww tyres.
Thanks again
