Was wondering what you guys thought about the harley remanufactured program. Have an 89 fxstc with 80k plus on the motor. Is it worth the 2500 to have it done? Thanks
Ya what I'm looking to do is to get a reliable bike. Stock hp is fine with me just want something dependable. And any idea if there is like a waranty or anything with it?
What I did was take the bottom end to out Mechanic and had him do what needed to be does for the crank and replace whatever needed to be replaced and I had him send the heads and cylinders to be machined and I then did the rest putting it back together. I was thinking of doing the reman at the time but found out the motor had to be removed and installed by Harley but closest HD was 3 hours away.

A Harley mechanic has to do the removal and installation for the 1ns year
Did the HD Reman. on wife's 85FXEF. Totally pleased with the engine. Now have 30,000 or so on it and no problems.
Took it to the HD Dealer, picked it up 2wks. later. Simple as that, didn't have to touch it. Got 1yr. unlimited mileage warranty.
Drop off/ pick-up plan on doing it on my Twinkie that now has 118,000 on it.
Just remember the engine is brought back to bone stock. What was on it new is what you get back, except for the cam tensioners on the original twinkies, they are automatically updated to the newer system.
Ditto for the EVO, any upgrades to the original engine by HD are done to the reman.

This is a good way o go for a stock power plant, but I was told they have to do the re&re to get the warranty "one year".
I just put in an ultima into my bike but its not stock
