Early FXR starter problem--need advice

Glad you got it sorted out but I gotta ask what battery did you put in it that didn't have enough CCA to spin your starter?

Installed an Advance Auto battery that had 260CCA when OEM is 280CCA. The real issue is that it’s a power sports battery from advance auto. They sit on the shelf for at least a year sometimes longer which in my experience thus far typically means they’ll be bad.

Sure is alot of misinformation about the early [5-speed] Starting system... much like the BS about the old Shovel System...
Good Battery, Good Cables... Sound Connections... Never a Problem...and I run one of the Cheapest AGM Battery I can find..
Got a fairly High Compression '93 EVO in my '83 Chassis and drive train... I can tell when the battery is getting Weak, because I need to put it in 3rd or 4th gear, roll it backwards a bit, then Neutral and Hit starter... gotta give it a head start... then ... New Battery time... Generally about 3 Years...
