Default motor mount fix

while doing the "what to do" project,i found my motor mount was no good. The inner bushing was no longer attached to the rubber.I called the local hd and they wanted 78 dollars for a new one, and after reading threads the common consensus was the new ones aren't as good. Now what i did was weld two m-20 washers to the bushing. I only tacked every 1\8 inch so i didnt melt too much of the bushing and quenched after every other tack. The bike always had alot of vibration that would shake the fairing, so ill know if it worked or not.

motor mount fix-photo-2-.jpg I dont have washer too snug. Just touching rubber so it shouldnt change the flexibility. but now the bushing doesnt slide up and down

That's a clever piece of work! I've replaced my front mount a couple of times (in over 20 years) with no problems. I think the current one is from TrueTrack.

Talking awesome

it worked. i actually have a significant decrease in vibes.it used to shake so bad at idle and thru 2000 rpm the windshield looked like it might break.i have had this bike for 2 years and it always shook.now you can watch the engine vibe a little but nothing transfers to the bars or fairing.what made me wonder was, i rode a friends heritage and wow real smooth. But doing the what to do thread i found that the motor mount was broke.save yourself a little money if you have access to a mig welder youll like it.i highly doubt itll ever break.

Iron, just be sure to use your manual and check your driveline anytime you change/repair or modify any mounts.
