I think I could have continued on for hours if I had needed to.
I sure wish there was an easy way to turn all of the lights off.
I may have to figure out how to put a switch in the next time I get inside the fairing.
This is my second stator in 3 years.
I bought an led tail on ebay. It came in a short lens that wouldn't fit on my bike.
I removed it, trimmed it a little and glued it into my lens with silicone. It made a huge difference on the amount of current drawn when stopped at idle with the brake on. It makes me want to change all of the other lights except headlight and spotlights.
I wonder how far you could make it on just the battery?
Long time ago, before fuel injection, a buddy of mine blew his stator and regulator on a road trip and didn't have the money to get it fixed on the road. He turned off his lights (old wiring setup on the ignition switch) and rode the rest of the day. We picked up a trickle charger and charged his battery each night. One night there was no power to charge so he skipped that night. The bike ran fine for the two days although we had to push start it on a fuel stop on the second day. I believe he had the stock electronic ignition and not an aftermarket. Thing is without all the new electronic gadgets, a bike will run a long time on just the battery. He got two days out of it and we were betting that he could have got three or four.

.
Just put a switch in the ground wire for the headlight.
I know the feeling. I took off last year to the Horse SmokeOut which is about 2 hours from me. No issues on the way down but when I was on my way home the bike just shut off on I-85 in Charlotte 1:15 from home. Wouldn't push off or anything battery was completely dead. Luckily my Dad was home and 2 hours later I was on the trailer headed for home.
Only 2 people stopped on a 90+ degree day in June...lol But that's ok I just pushed it up the ramp to a gas station for some shade and water.
Just put a switch in the ground wire for the headlight.
Thats the way my bike came when it was new to me and then I rewired all the lites so my passing lites worked off the left handle bar switch, headlite and tail now only come on when I turn ignition switch to lites and the chicken lites come on with its own toggle swiitch ( the old headlite switch ).
But really fixed all the electrical problems was a new starter , extra dreaded click relay , new battery and 38 amp cycleltric charging system.
