Not seen but heard of it, sometimes attributed to badly aligned crankshaft.

+1 0n spanners comment. This end doesn't normally break!! Is there something binding up the valve train or oil pump????

I never seen it happen on an evo. I had it happen on my ironhead once. Nothing was locked up in the motor or trans. Never did find the cause.

The only cause I can think of would be either a bad alignment problem with the crank, or the introduction of a foreigh object into the cam or oil pump gears, like maybe a piece of a tappet roller needle.

What is a bad alignment with the crank?
