Got a problem
upgrade to the roller bearing ASAP
get it, ride it awhile, then you'll know which bike to keep
Thanks to all for posting about something so off topic for this place..
I did not know about the balanced motor, are all twinkies balanced? A guy at work has a newer ultra and at idle that rubber mount motor bounces around like a childs toy. I did know that fuel injection was out and the tensioners wear quickly. I've been looking Primarily at EVO's but they are usually more money and/or higher mileage or a color I can't live with so this color twinkie with a carb was my next best bet.
Any comments appreciated, I'm usually pretty decisive but this had me wavering....

That comes from the fact they don't have the balancers, which use up a bit of power.
Ok, more info:
1: its a myth that balanced Softie motors don't vibrate....they do, they just don't bounce around in the frame at idle because they are not rubber mounted
2: The rear outer cam bearing upgrade is just a bearing swap....re shim the outer sprockets on reassembly....all good....but it takes a while as it requires the rocker gear to be pulled but that's way easier than on an Evo.

Well, I'll probably not find a cleaner one, completely stock, very small chip bottom of the rear fender and RH fishtail was heavily buffed, probabley a little rust that was cleaned wrong.. Rides nice, shifts well, motor runs smooth but it's a complete dog in the power department. How did they even sell these when they were new? We are 500 dollars apart, he wants 10K...What do you think?

Well Doug, the dollars in your bank account are only worth what you and your family think they're worth. I don't sweat 5% on a deal, if I really want it. Life is short. We all can spend $500.00 going to a ball game, yes?
Doug, don't tell your wife I said that. I'm not the devil here.
By the way, the Hawks are going to smack Boston again tonight!

You'll be hard pressed to find a finer machine than the Heritage Springer. I have the Evo version that I bought new in 1997. In the past 16 years I've rode it hard through many canyons and twisted roads and they handle great for a big cruiser. On the open road they're as comfortable & smooth as can be. They can be a great classic looking bar hopper, or full on touring bike. They're comfortable enough to spend all day in the saddle, and do the same the following day. They're truly a magnificent machine.
Unfortunately I can't offer any first hand opinions of a TC being that I don't have one.
There is a forum exclusive to the Heritage Springer where you can get a wealth of information from many devotees with first hand experience of this machine. Just about everything you would want to know. They're a real friendly and helpful group as well. I'm sure it can help you make your decision. Check it out at: http://www.heritagespringer.com/
Good luck with your decision
