Symptom: starter solenoid engages, motor turns over and fires up. Starter stays engaged. Kill ign, motor dies, starter keeps moving crankshaft.
Kill starter by arcing hot solenoid/starter terminal against starter case.
Culprit: The solenoid plunger is sticking due to contacts being pitted and arcing. They need replaced or refinished.

If you're dead-clicking or if you're dragging the starter, disconnect the negative battery cable, back the 3 screws off the endplate peeking out just under the oil tank on the right side, pull the plunger and start looking for pitting on copper mating surfaces.
