Had the same problem with my '02 Softtail until today. In temp at around 40 or colder, my plugs would foul and stuttered and stalled. Enrichener (choke) was all the way in (open). Had my wife sew up a carb sock today, first day out this year, with temps in the 30's. Ran perfect. Pulled the sock off on the way home and plugs fouled. Cleaned up plug and have the sock back on till the temps warm up....or until I get the carb checked out.

That is a counter-intuitive as it gets....sock should make it richer if anything...
I agree, actually. But for now, it allows me to ride as our Labrador mornings are always cold this time of year. I'm keeping an eye on the plugs. Definitely something to do with the cold air getting sucked in.
