I sold my Evo Softail in 1996 and never looked back!
I was recently looking for a chevy with a carb.
Couldn't find anything worth buying.

I like simple vehicles as they cost me less to fix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the last true classic harley was the '13 EGC. the last bagger with classic in the name...assuming that hard bags, fairing, and tour pack constitute a bagger. course, you know the moco will offer it again...soon as the new wears off the water cooling and they think they might pick up a few customers with a less expensive model!

On my last truck ('97 GMC) I had an injector hose go bad and start leaking fuel. Caused by the new ethanol fuel.

Coulda caused a fire but luckily didn't.

Not a real Harley is what they were saying and few hardcore guys would give them a second look....So, as time progresses, I would say every Harley will become classics in their own rite, the Twinkies, even the Steamheads, probably.
Isn't that the way of the west. What is it with Harley guys not only knocking Asian bikes, but they bad mouth their own. Sporty chick bikes, Geezer glides, yada yada. Shovels sound like real Harleys, EVOs don't, blah blah blah.

I love my chic bike. I love my EVOs. The rest can eat cake.

Remember Bertha? I was filling her after a long highway ride and found out the gasket under the fuel gauge sending unit failed....gas flowing down the side of the tank steaming on the motor......all while a guy on a Yamaha V-Star was talking to me.....

THAT could have been BAD.........

I have an '87 GMC Burb, convertible project truck. I swapped out the fuel injection for a good old carb. Feulies are great as long as they work or at least throw codes, but if you get a gremlin in one. They can become the biggest PIA you've ever had. A carb may not be as fuel efficient or as dependable in most cases, but when they die you can always bring them back to life with little $$ and effort. That's why I like the EVO's, plus they sound way better than the newer models. IMO

I'm with you on the Evo is the end of a legacy put still want everyone to know that the EGR valved Harley will be the future to meet the treehuggers demands. Say it ain't so but look at the pattern of engines, gas-egr, diesel-egr, Harley now has coolant which will follow mechanical patterns of cooling spent gases to be resent back into the combustion chamber, the cat exhaust that showed up is just an introductory to doom.

The ace in the hole is the regenerating DPF exhaust system, hope this one doesn't make it to Harley but look at DEF in Chevy powered trucks, who would of thought this garbage system would exist 10 years ago. Lets just keep plugging away with our Evo's and let technology bypass us
