Ah, the secret is revealed, thanks traildog. I just logged on to say it was crunch time hoping for your answer because the oil and oil filter is changed, and the carb is out of the ultrasonic cleaner, dried, and ready for assembly tomorrow am. Tomorrow is time to wash all the grime off and give her a good cleaning. That Novus is good stuff, my neighbor uses it, I'm hooked on lemon pledge for the quick clean. Any tips for the first wash to get the nasty road grime off that the PO neglected, especially up around the oil filter. I was gonna use some engine degreaser first.

If you use a degreaser and you have a black wrinkle-finish motor it may go grey and if it does just spray with silicone and rub with a rag to make it black again.

Thanks Spanners, I do have a black wrinkle finish and that would have upset me big time. Maybe I will try some Purple Power and elbow grease first. I just want her spotless by the end of the weekend. I normally do this when I bring a bike home, but like I originally said, I can't stop riding this one. The secret to not riding it was pulling the carb, ha!
