I have a 1989 fxstc with the 6 lead screw connector terminal switch. Has anyone converted theirs to the 93 up switch with the 3 terminal plug in? Can it be done?
I see your having trouble trying to get a reply here and as your querrie is a wiring nightmare as described , i will try to help you here.
As the wiring type dude here i will offer my suggestions to you ...
Yes ... you can rewire anthing including this system from 6 wire ign. switch to 3 wire " But " you will need a complete schematic wiring diagram and you must know how to read it to ensure you dont fry everything in the process as the ign. switch is a primary switching component .
I suggest the following...
1) replace the 6 pin standard ign. switch with any automotive shop available same unit for like $ 15.00. These universal units are stout and labeled and easy to wire .
2) repair the unit you have by resoldering the broken connectors.
3) replace the unit with an available HD unit for big bucks .
