I have a S&S carb on my 96 Road King and the cable guide keeps breaking on me. Has anyone had this issue and Is there a better/stronger one out there? Or is there a way to make this not happen?
Those two pictures show the new cable guide installed and where the cables are routed. The throttle turns hard as well and I cant seem to route the cables where I can free them up. I thought the S&S carb was supposed to be a good upgrade but its been a pain in the ***!
Man somehow you must be pulling to the side on the cable guide.
Are you sure your cables are long enough?
I agree, did you make any other changes to your set up, bars, risers, handlebar angle? It sure sounds like your cables are too tight. How much free play do you have?
They seem long enough and I cant remember the make. I had a local guy do the bars and cables but that was before the S&S Carb. Its just so tight between the top of the cable guide and the bottom of the tank. There just doesn't seem like there's enough room.

I did put 14" apes on the bike, that's what the local guy did for me. I cant seem to get the cables to go anywhere else though. They either go in between the frame and tank which it pulls it to the side or pull them down and they get sandwiched between the bottom of the tank and top of the motor mount. I don't know, it sucks anyway I route them.
