I didnt know that GraemeR ., i just finished doing a rebuild on my 90 CV and there was no mention of that . I replaced it with the discolored/blackened side in and am sure this how it was removed but i was not aware that they would fit either way .?

The one I just installed had a larger bevel on the interior of the one side. I figured this was to guide the needle into the hole. Got it back together and ran it around the block a few times tonight, all seems well.
