Not all Shovels used that configuration. Some later models used the same external spin on oil filter as the Evo.

Still a bit of a blanket statement...

You are right RHPAW; I should have clarified that as the only Shovels the TC filter fits is 80 thru 84. If I remember right there were a few Shovels built in 84 and the rest were EVO's.

Dan you made me think, first I was going to say several times, but now that I think if it only once. An Indi who had a bike come in, motor fried, no oil circulation and wrong filter.
However I do not remember the circumstances, believe it was a evo but I am not going to say anymore because I don't remember, and who know the real circumstances.
It did make enough of an impression to put me in the "Why take a chance" group.
My biggest fear in not using a "car" filter but getting the wrong filter.
Like I said before the only time I tried to use an aftermarket filter I bought at an Indi and it would not screw on, that scared me enough to never try again.
I wont use a fram, or wix, however I am sure both are made by the same company that makes HD.
Wish Pure would recommend one to fit bikes since they discontinued their bike filters.

If a filter were put on an Evo, that did not allow the oil to pass through, there would first be a huge mess, because the oil would not return to the tank, and would instead blow out the breather.

Wow, I used a lot of commas in that run on sentence....

A TC gerotor pump moves more oil than a wimpy gear type Evo/Shovel pump. The TC requires more oil due to its design, including the oil jets used to cool the pistons and cylinders.

And that is why I said that your statement is not true. Care to back up your statement as to why you say a TC needs less oil flow?

Yes, I think I probably know more than the dealership that sells the filters, and apparently I`m not the only one who thinks this...

My opinion is that whereas most of us would happily spend 500 bucks on a cam-swap, we tend to be too cheap-*** to buy a proper filter....discuss....
