Due to the extreme cold this build has been getting farther behind than i would like but parts are finally coming home with the exception of my frame which should be done tomorrow. Will start assembling engine tomorrow reusing my HQ cam , Johnson high lift lifters , Weisco 10:1 pistons machined down to 9.7:1 .010 over , Daytona Twin Tech ignition and coil , S&S steel breather , Heads & intake blueprinted and flow benched within 2% . And to think this whole engine rebuild was just to cure some massive oil consumption.

Why would you shave a piston down from 10.1 to 9.7. ? Clearance? First time I have ever heard of that.
in a shop that is responsible for the work they do, will not with the gas we have today build a motor with high compression anything plus 9.5 to 1 will become a thing not if it does - if you have a long duration cam it cuts back on the static compression but puts the performance off till the revs are up high - not the way most drive and its not fun crusing as it lacks in power
the fix is a bigger motor 90 inches 100 inches is a start, you can get the power of compression with a increase of inches with out the issues the gas today has -- jz
