This....although Im guilty of molesting an FXR myself, its the clean, stock ones that really get my attention.
Well, I wouldn't exactly say bars/seat/ suspension upgrades constitutes as molesting. This bike will consist of all bolt-on upgrades. Hardly permanent chopping. I personally think switching to forward controls is more of an FXR travesty over bolting on parts that make it ride better.
Which bikes are privy to mods and which aren't? Do you have a system you go by or...?
Not really, I just think that so many FXRs got munted back in the day that the survivors should be treasured and left unmolested as they are few and far between and such a really nice bike...I also think that no Harley should ever be given the "Thug Style" or SOA treatment...never, ever not ever!!!
Oh and brakes! God does it need better brakes. Doesn't stop worth a **** compared to what I'm used to. Front end needs a rebuild and some better rear suspension while I'm at it. BYE BYE savings account!!!
Thanks Maaaan! But would a new seat, CV carb upgrade, A/C upgrade and maybe some more open slip ons send me to Hell??? 👹. Or a cam upgrade? 👹👹👹
This is important to know since other things in my life may have me headed in that direction already! Or if I leave her as is will it slow my decent?? Important philosophical dilemma!

But then I am old skool and proud of it.
One thing you need to realize, that TV show was based off of the style of bike popular in that region. A style that's been popular for the past decade or more. It's what the majority of these bikes are set up for out there because they perform. I can't ride any stock Harley, there's just too much room for improvement...
