Yesterday I picked up another FXR. This time it's a 1990 FXRS. One owner, sweet bike. The first one I got was an '85 RT that was solid and straight but needed a good bit of TLC. This one needs nothing but MODS!!!!
The bike is clean and solid. It's truly a 10 at 10. Looks mint at 10ft away. Up close you see some minor scuffs and blemishes... But for a true 1-owner, unmolested FXR I think I did pretty well. Runs strong and smooth, other than a shimmy at 80mph plus, probably needs new steering head bushing. Plans are to get a chrome Thunder Header this week along with deciding on a new seat, then moving on to a better riser/bar setup and powder coating the wheels and sliders ASAP. Stock signals and hand controls have to go soon too, being replaced with newer Dyna units. Then maybe a progressive front and rear suspension setup. After that's done I'll be happy riding it until the winter and then move on to a chain drive, carb, and some other goodies. In the end I jumped on it because it needs less in terms of repairs than the RT and leaves more for straight up mods. Can't wait to get started...

Yeah Buddy, that's a clean one, good find! I just brought home a stock, one owner, 93 FXRS last month and love it. What a ride! I'll be modding mine as well, but I'll be storing all the stock parts, even the tins. I found a whole set of tins for just $350.00 that I'm picking up this weekend. I'm enjoying riding the **** out of it for now, so it may have to wait until November to come apart for the mods. I'll probably need til then just to afford all the parts for it. Whatever ... it'll get done, when it gets done.
Congrats to you,
Enjoy!

Hah! It'll be getting a new seat, chrome Thunder Header, and either 8-10" risers with tracker bars or a set of mini apes on the 4" risers it has. Newer hand controls and signals. Powder coated wheels and a S&S carb... All within a month I hope! Oh yeah and probably a set of bags too...
Oh and brakes! God does it need better brakes. Doesn't stop worth a **** compared to what I'm used to. Front end needs a rebuild and some better rear suspension while I'm at it. BYE BYE savings account!!!
