Got it off. What a pain. Here's a couple pictures. There's black stuff stuck to the inside of the jug, can anyone explain? Also the gaskets are soft and flexible no cracks, but I can't tell where they are leaking. Would the brownish part be where it wasn't sealing and sucking air? Also pulled the carb top to check the diaphragm and I have an adjustable needle. This isn't stock is it? All the jets were stock. Also, looks like this hole was drilled, what size should it be?
That slide vaccum hole should be no larger than 1/8th... ideally under 1/8th but you know.
The needle is stock, and that brown stuff could have been where it was leaking from. I do find it funny that your slide is that dirty? Mine sure wasn't when I yanked it off. Now is the time to order a kit from CV Performance if you want.
I have seen blacker slides than that, all looks pretty normal. Emulsion tube is usually changed when adjustable needle is used. Be good if you could drop the float bowl and show pics of what is in there.
So you think I had a intake leak based on those pics? Why would one side have black accumulating on the intake side like that? Here's the bottom, I put a 45 Pilot in so I won't take a pic of that and I drilled the plug for the mixture screw already. It has a 180 main and the emulsion tube has only two small holes on opposite sides from each other not stock not sure what it is.
Edit...looks like it's a dynojet emulsion and needle. Why they went 180 on the main with only slipons is odd. Carb is going to have to wait until I get the bike smoothed out. Not dropping $80 on the CVP kit until then
Also here's where I'm at with alignment. Think I'm good just need a shakedown. This was 7 full turns when I did it last time and it's still as close to dead on as possible.
Update. Plugs and intake seals changed. No change. Here's a video,it won't show the shake it's shaking too hard and fast it will look wavy but listen as it hits 2000 you can here it kick in and shake the handlebars, levers etc rattling hard, that's not the engine knocking. It shakes front to back handlebars to rear fender like that. If you watch towards the end of the video the bar looks like it's wavy but it's shaking hard, starts right before and stops right after 2000. Normal elsewhere in the revs and idle. Shakedown done. With everything loose it shakes at 1500 and is smooth at 2000. Ran it after I torqued everything and it's back at 2000. 2000 is smooth with the mounting bolts loose, but I assume it should be with nothing locking it to frame.
