Default 1989 Springer Softail

My name is Joe and I am a motorcycle addict. In the last 10 months I have bought 3 bikes that need work. I know I already have five running bikes, and two projects. I see bikes that I've wanted when they were new and can now afford. My latest fix is this 1989 Springer Softail I'm picking up on Sunday in Florida. I am pretty sure the magazine that announce the new 1988 springer softail is still there. I wanted that bike so badly, but my daughter was just born and the money wasn't there at the time. This one was flooded in the last hurricane, but I'm hoping it will be easy to free up the motor, as it was only submerged for a short time, and the cylinders look clear. It'll give me something to work on during the winter.

Congrats! Looks great, I like the tool box.. I should add that. I like those mirrors too. You should sell me that chin spoiler.. I don’t think you really want that lol. It was my dream bike as well. After 30 years my wife told me to go buy something with suspension cause she wasn’t putting up with my hardtail anymore lol. I now have 3 bikes, hunting a 4rth.. love my springer!

Tore down and built from the frame up

Also of note.. you have a very rare and impossible to find now fender lowering kit on your front. I had a 90 springer that was stolen that also had that kit. Impossible to find it now. Your rear turn signals are a late 80’s early 90’s typical aftermarket kit. They too are hard to find now. Lots of cool period correct bolt on aftermarket parts. I’d keep all of them. Makes it really stand out.

‘’Here is my 90 that was stollen..the 93 you see above was built to match the 90.

Thanks, I also like a lot of the period correct changes. I like the custom paint, too. It does make it stand out. I did notice the front fender was not the dirt bike version that came originally, glad you cleared that up. I'll look at the chin spoiler in person and decide if I like it. It's not as bad as some, but you are right, I was never a fan of the look. It'll look good on your bike, I like the digger style.

@Rains2much Looking at the pictures again, I'll probably take it off. Where in Florida do you live?

ps, if anyone is interested, I also want to get rid of the air filter.

I see you like La Rosa products.
I’ve got a similar bag on my 99.
Nice bags.

I’m just outside of Orlando. Feel free to PM me and we can set a price and I can get you an address to mail it to or maybe we can drive somewhere and meet.

What does the bike look like now? I doubt a bike that was underwater looks that good.
