Default TCSTD...Need your advice

Ok...perhaps I'm closing the barn door after the animals all got out but here we go.

I went in to get my SEII's installed yesterday and the service writer suggested (strongly) that I get the hi flow air filter and the tuner kit so they can download the correct settings for the exhaust change. I agreed and I have to admit the bike is much louder than I expected, with a deep rich growl. It even seems a little quicker, but that just may be because I was having so much fun. They told me the tuner box was a wise investment.

So, TC, did I do right? and what should I have paid for that.

Really apppreciate your help

Kicks

SeII's, good choice IMO. I also have them on mine.
No download required for JUST mufflers.
High flow air kit, needs download even if it is JUST the air kit installed. Both muffs & a/f kit, you need the download.
Tuner kit??...Download??? You need one or the other, tuner kit is for a carb model (jets etc.), download is for fuel injection.

You did right if you're happy with it.

If you got the mufflers, air cleaner kit, and download (fuel injection) you did right. You'll pick up about 9 HP there.

As far as price, they vary so much from dealer to dealer, I couldn't even take a shot here. In my area the labor is $95 an hour, other places are $65 an hour. Maybe around 2 - 2 1/2 hours labor for the install of all parts. Very little setup here, download and go.

Clarify Tuner kit for me?

I see you have an 05 FXDI, so that's the download, now what's the tuner kit you mention?

TC,

I think he is talking about a Race Tuner. Alot of dealers are installing them now, especially with the new EPA crap. I must say that I do like the race tuners ability to really get in there and change some settings. If you are running true duals like my rineharts or have a big inch motor it seems to work great. Expensive........$459.00 from HD plus dyno time.

Terry is correct,

It is the EFI Race Tuner Kit, and I did get the SE Air Cleaner as well. They discounted the cost of the tuner kit to 344.00 and labor was only 70.00 per hour. I actually had a bunch of work done to it, so it was a pretty hefty bill, but they discounted all parts 25% off list. I guess they did right by me. Glad I have you guys to get the straight scoop from, it's greatly appreciated!

I'm waiting for my 06 Deuce to come in and wanted SE II's and Stage 1 kit. The dealer said that I needed a power commander, He said that it wouldn't run right without it.

Every thing should be done by next week, I can't wait.

Hi Jimmy,
I had a custom Dyno PC map built for my 06 Heritage 88B with stage 1 and V&H Big Shot Staggered. 78.8hp and a 10ftlb gain in torque
Your welcome to it.
I saved the original from the Dyno and made another copy adding fuel to the 0% Throttle position cells from 1000rpm through 4000rpm. This got rid of alot of the Decel Pop when the throttle is closed.
Your welcome to both.
Email me through the forum if you need them.

Sorry to butt in, I see where you're saying don't need a download with just mufflers.
Is that true across the board regardless of brand? I just had my 8* injectors changed out for the 25* inj. on my "06" FLHXi and put everything back to stock when it went in to the dealer.
I have a pair of Wild Pigs with 1 3/4 in. baffles that I would want to put back on, will I be OK?
I also have a TFI that I used when I had the Stage I air cleaner, but I don't plan on putting the AC back on. What do you think?
Sorry for the long email, just wanted to cover everything.
Thanks,
Mark

You don't need a fuel manager to run an aftermarket exhaust, although you may notice an increase in decel popping. A fuel manager is required when the air flow is increased from stock.
I'm no expert, just sharing my experience.
I am curious to know why your not re-installing the Stage I
