Put a set in when I didmy cam change.Adjusted and tightened per instructions.Today cruising down the road the bike dropped the forward cyl.Upon checking found the intake pushrod broken at about a third of the thread travel.Anyone have any experience with this? Did the cams about 3000 miles ago.
Thanks,Russ
I had one loosen up after being in about 2k miles. I was on the interstate and heard it clacking. I pulled over and the bike died. I couldn't hear well due to the traffic going by. I tried to start the bike one too many times. It kicked back and bent the pushrod.
I think what happened is the locknut came loose first. On the exhaust rod the locknut was finger tight. They were both tightened to specs at assembly.Going back with a different brand and EVERYTHING is gonna get red loctite.
Russ
PS.They were a good name brand.

Don't know what happened for sure, but I've been a automotive wrench for over 40 years and I KNOW how to assemble **** er,stuff.
Going back in with S&S.All adjusters and locknuts will get red loctite!!
Russ
I may use a dab of red on my SE E-Z install pushrods when I re-assemble my top end...or should I say IF. Maybe I'll wait for a bit though...I had an excessive amount of valvetrain noise and I'm going to fiddle with the pushrod length a little to see if they get quieter a little longer or a little shorter.
