Default RE: Push rod question

Unless you are totally mechanically inept, do the work yourself. That way, you can make certain it is done correctly. It is not a hard job. Harley Hog's website has a great pictorial guide. The instructions with a cam kit are easy to follow. You can easily your first cam swap in a long weekend day.

Default RE: Push rod question

I have done the cam swap both ways, I prefer to reuse the stock pushrods, not a big deal to remove gas tank, now, you only have to pull the rocker covers and breather bolts and then the 4 bolts on each rocker support, really easy and not that big of a deal, advantage, no time spent on adjusting pushrods, less flex in stock pushrods and no chance of a pushrod ever coming loose and messing things up, another time saver if you are just going to be replacing cams and not lifters(if your mileage is below 25 to 30 thousand)is to hold lifters up out of the way with magnets, I use 4 square plastic coated cow magnets and criss cross them together to hold the lifters up out of the way, saves a lot of time removing inner bolts on lifter covers. As for cam choices the 37's work excellent in a 95 build with 9.5 to 1 compression or atad more with head work, I have no experience with them in an otherwise stock engine but I am guessing they would be a little mushy in the bottom end. You may be happier with a 26 grind, or better yet the Hq 34 cam, very good cam for an otherwise stock 88 inch motor. You may also want to change out your inner cam bearings to the torringtons while you are in the camchest. B-148, you will need the proper tools to remove and install them though.
