I've seen a few referencesof to the HQ 107" build but, I haven't found it on the HQ website. What does it consist of?
You're right! It's not listed.... It's basically the same as the 98" kit, but it requires a 4.375" crank.
Since ya gotta split the cases & replace the crank, you might wanna give serious consideration to the 113" kit. It uses the the same crank as the 103 / 107.
not philm, but you will have to split the cases to make a 96" into a 113" - reason is you are going up to a 4.060 or 4.065 cylinder bore that requires boring the lower cases.
The spigots on the bottom of the cylinders are a bit larger, so the case have to be bored a little.
If I were doing a 113 on a 96" motor, I would definitely want to have the crank serviced first, by someone like Darkhorse. You'll want to make sure it's true and then have it welded so it won't "sissor" on you. The 113 is too strong for that crank in standard form.
Running a JIMs crank in my 120", definitely strong enough for the 113. There are a whole bunch of other considerationss once you start getting beyond the 103-107 builds. Cranks, crank bearings, case boring, piston oilers, crank balancing (JIMs are pretty good out of the box, but when John at Darkhorse gets done with them, they are a work of art), throttle bodies, injectors, exhaust and on and on.
If you do a HD 113 build, the bore on the jugs from HD is 4.060 and they do have taper.
HQ bores them new to 4.065 to remove all taper and supplies pistons to fit.
