I have an '03 herritage softail and am planning a 95" upgrade. Not planning any bottom end mods at this time. Will i benefit from Screaming Eagle Hi Pro heads or will they even fit?
If you add cams to the equasion, the heads will most certainly make a difference. With stock cams, the S/E heads (at leaset the S/E "Performance Heads") will increase the compression ratio a bit and will not work well with the stock cams (that are designed for 8.9 ~ 9:1 CR).
Now you ask, then which cams? LOL.....
PLenty of banter on the site about that...
Search on cam selection, or something like that on this forum.
From everything I've read, and every pro builder I talked to, the heads are not worth the money. You get more bang for the buck having your heads reworked: ported, light polish, 3 angle valve cut, and better springs (lightweight beehive).
You're going to change the pistons anyway, so you can have whatever compression ratio matches your cam and altitude best.
i did it, the 95 upgrade, 203 cams, had heads ported & polished, oh i do have power commander, k & n filter, screamin eagle pro II, whew torque monster.... runs great catch me if you can.
Hi I am new in this forum and I'm thinking about upgrade my Softail FXSTi 2005. I'm looking torque more then speed. Have you head about this

i just did the se 211 cams & thunderheader on my o1 heratetage classic next month ill do the 95 pistons 10.25:1 compression & im probably gonna upgrade stock heads
hdshovel98, get the Power Commander from Dynojet. Don't take my word for it (I had one on my 05 Nightrain and loved it) read the article in the Sep06 American Iron Magazine. Very informative.
All I had done when I put the PC on was V&H Big Shots Staggered and Hypercharger. I was about to do cams, big bore, heads and throttle body when we got hit by a drunk illegal mexican on the 12th of August.
