ok, so the install went pretty good yesterday. It took me all day and into the night but I think everything is good. The only thing i wasn't sure about was the adjustable pushrods. I installed them exactly like the directions and when i started it up the first time it sounded alittle noisy. I rechecked them and all seemed good.
I let it idle a little more and the noise seemed to lessen. My guess is something to do with oil, or lack of oil in the lifters. I did soak them but I did not use an oil can to fill them.
Bike is currently at the tuners and i should get it back in a couple of days
not to hijack yr thread, but am very interested in changing my cam as well. i live in sweden, icould get the cam for $380 but have to pay the workshop $1600 eqv in swedish money to install the tw-555 cams. ripp-off i think. How big a deal is it to change these things? I know how to was a wrench and have some tools in the garage.
Between the Atrain link and this one here (iclick's) and the manual, plus the folks on the board here. You can change the cams, go for it. I'm saying this if you have 07 or newer. I just changed mine in an 08 and it wasn't too bad. I had never been inside any kind of motor prior to this. Took my time, asked a few questions when I wasn't sure. I re-used the push rods as did "iclick". Took a little longer, but it's less things to go wrong after you get done. In fact, I'm not quite done yet because of parts I didn't have and I don't live near a dealer. (got my parts Wed) The plan is to finish today and Friday. I'm going to handle the re-tune with the Revolution Performance Precision Tuner. (I'm done with trying to find a good dyno guy and paying $500 + every time you change something.) If you decide to do it, let me know if I can help. I'll pass on what others have passed on to me.
i am happy with this install. The bike runs good. I have a few short rides and one trip to houston/galveston ( approx. 600 mile trip) last weekend with the new cams and pipe. The power comes on late, but when it does it pulls really good all the way to red line.
Whenever I get a chance I will run over to test and tune night at the drag strip for a little experimenting. Best I could manage before with stock bike was 13.3. So it will be fun to compare.
