Default Head Pipe Install ??

I have the Vance & Hines Dresser Duals ordered for my 13 Street Glide. I already have the Rinehart 4 1/2 Slip-ons. Got the AC and Power Vision on the way from Fuel Moto . The bike is new, less than 250 miles. My question: Should I reuse the OEM Exhaust gaskets, or do I need to replace them?? If I need to replace, which gasket (Brand) and part # please.. My thinking was since it only has less than 250 miles I would be good with the OEMs but wanted the opion of ones in the Know...

I would. They have been torque to the other header and msy not line up. For the cost of 2 gaskets I would get them. You may get New ones with the new header.

I just downloaded the install instructions. They advise to use Vance & Hines Gasket Kit # 22899. Are these good gaskets ? Are there better ones or these good to go ?? Just want to do it right the first time.....

I use the screaming eagle performance flat exhaust seals #17048-98
work great with after market exhaust. the stock head pipe is tapered and has crushed the seal out of shape you will notice the new head pipe is flat across it will not seal good. with the old seals .

Default Vance & Hines Install

Any tips or short-cuts I need to know on the install of the Dresser Duals. I got the V&H Gasket Kit coming also, everything should be here next week.
Is this a hard install ?? Any problem as a one man job ???

I'm in the process of installing a new exhaust system and after removing the stock exhaust, I've found the old exhaust gaskets stuck inside opening.

Has anyone run into this, and what's the easiest way to remove them without doing damage to the engine?

Mike

I just used a small pocket flat blade screwdriver and pop them out from the inside of the port out to the opening of the port.

@TeeStu
Use the Screamin Eagle ones, much better quality and stronger. Take the V&H supplied ones to double up if needed.

@loopyg
Just anything that you could use to pick and pull, a dentist pick, bent and sharpened nail or screwdriver, etc. - pick into the gasket and gently pull. If you do that step by step all around it will not crush and you'll be able to pry out in one piece

Use new stock head pipe gaskets, the SE gaskets are 1/2 as thick and more likely to leak and cause decel popping.
