While running down the highway my putt started breaking up, like no fuel, switched to reserve no change. Made it to a gas station where my 3 1/2 gal. tank only took 2 gal. Ran ok to my destination, let it cool and looked into fuel the next day.
Found the fuel filter not passing fuel, drained the tank and pulled the petcock to find what you see below. Rinsed out the tank, blew it out, cleaned the fuel filter and petcock strainer. Added stable when I put clean gas in it and it has been running fine, for now.
Question is now how do I clean the tank this winter so I can reseal it?
Years ago we had used steel BB's mixed with kerosene, and shake them around vigorously.
What won't dump out of the filler cap, simply fish out the rest with a magnet.

Just read about a kit from Bill Hirsch automotive that cleans, etches and coats the tank, also saw the ball bearing trick with apple cider vinegar. As Hirsch Auto is only an hour away I'm going to get their kit tomorrow. Watched a youtube of some nutbag putting nuts and bolts in the tank and throwing it in his ol's close dryer, LOL
Ordered new tank, should be here today, gives me an extra half gallon which is a good thing, going to prime and do body filler and final paint over the winter.
New tank is painted and installed, got a couple hundred miles with it and it's fine actually great. Now it's gettin' to damned cold to ride without electronic cloths LOL
