Hey John,
this Delco unit that
you spoke about where does one find one?
Also I noticed no one has jumped in on telling is it normal or not normal for the plugs to be drying after trying to start
over and over?

2 things maybe 3

1 i asked about the intake you said its fine and re did it - did you use peek seals if not its sucking air

2 you also said the idle was hi when it started < classic intake leak

3 dry with the choke on yep intake not sealing - and they become hard to start —- did you use peek seals or are you still using the brass ones that never work

Did a psi check on the intake manifold everything was nice and tight, but for gp I changed the old brass seals with new Peek seals.
But I’ll check the intake again for leaks, maybe something change I just have to find it!
to be continued.

Well bubbled tested the intake manifold again, tight as a frogs butt! 🐸
what is the likelihood this can be a distributor / timer issue?
Should I pull the timer and check it top to bottom?
and what would be the hidden things to look for?

Are you running points? I am a big fan of eBeyond 2000 electronic ignition:

EBeyond 2000, Order the QuickStart 2000, HiTech Motorcycle Inventions

The only issue is you need to Ohm match your coil. If you go this route, call Ed direct and discuss your current electrical system and coil, he is great and will guide you accordingly.

Personally I hate points, last time I tolerated them was in a 1972 Pontiac GP that I sold 20 years ago, give or take. And I tolerated them because GM points are easy to set with a dwell meter, not dealing with setting a gap on points. PITA. Others will completely disagree and that is fine, giving you my opinion. Good luck.

So I’m I over thinking this or should the plugs be wet if the motor has been over chocked?
I'm thinking how my 65 Chevy truck plugs get wet when it’s flooded, wouldn’t be the same?
