I just got my new Street Glide and a couple of times around the block I noticed the front feeling soft on the first pull the with a pump or two it firmed up
It did this more than once
Feels like air in the line but could it be normal ABS action?
It is not normalABS action, Mine is firm on first pull and no need for pumping. I did not notice this problem on 80,000 miles on the Wing or so far on the Ultra both with ABS
I know I ride a springer but I had the same problem.
Turned out my rotor (disk) was bent a little. the
warpage would push the caliper piston in while
riding and when you stoped the first pull on the
lever would push the piston out and it would
seem soft, second pull it would seem firm.
Seems my rotor was bent from the day I got it
and they replaced it under warranty.
If you can, look at your rotors with the front
tire spinning. BTW I felt no vibration when stoping.
No screaming at me please, but this may be normal on HD ABS. I felt the same on my 08 SG when new and took it back to the dealer. They unbolted the calipers from their mountings, inserted something thinner than the rotors between the pads and pumped the brakes to get the pistons to travel further. They then reinstalled the calipers back into their mounts and seemed to make a noticable difference. I have noticed this on more than just a couple of ABS bikes. When I first noticed it on mine, I went around and checked for others on the showroom floors at a couple of dealers. They ALL did the same thing. They feel just a tad different than the non ABS bikes when just pulling the lever at a standstill. It may have something to do with the extra brake lines back and fourth between the calipers and ABS module. I have approx 1500 miles on mine now & either it is genuinely fine now or I just may be a bit use to it. Keep us updated on yours.
