Default Question on Soft Lowers

I've got a set of these but they don't get used that often. The recommendation is to use them only when the temp is below 50F. Usually by that time the bike is off the road for the winter or it's an early morning condition that heats up after an hour or so.

So tomorrow I'll be riding in the rain but the temp will be between 50 and 60F. Would rain make any difference to the useable temp range?

What experience do others have?

I've had mine on in the rain when the temp was hovering around 70, no problem and the oil temp was fine.

I carry mine on all trips and use them in the rain only. They help a lot. They keep my feet dry.
I've ridden through some gnarly storms and glad to have them on.

I left mine on during last years 1 week trip to the mountains in BC around the end of Sept even when the rain quit and temps were 70-80f. There was still a chill in the air they helped with especially when you are riding on the shady side of the mountain. I found the engine didn't heat up any more than it would have on a hot summer day.

I am going to add some clear 3M film to the frame where the straps hold the lowers onto the frame. The paint on the frame did take some abuse there and should be protected if you intend to use them extensively. They probably should have added some softer microfibre cloth to the inside of them in this location.

They are still worth the price to keep a set in the bags for when the weather changes on you unexpectedly.

Keep mine in the saddlebag at all times. Good for rain and cold weather. I took the hard lowers off and sold them asap when the bike was new. If it's raining I have never had a temp problem on the hiway.
