cam install and first problem shows up
came back home and bleed the rear brake, I used Valvoline syn dot 3&4 from auto zone. went for a ride didn't quit make it 20 miles , and they lock up, cop stoped by to help. but was ready already took few wrench with me , I guess I need to start put a small box tool with me on bike in case **** happen, bleed it a little and I took her back home.
when it cooled , I had already master cylinder original kit when I did rebuilt it from last year cause I knew it s not bad , took everything a part, the brembo caliper , clean with brake cleaner, clean the master and put the original kit back in . this morning I put a dial on rotor and it was 0.002, so I said the rotor still good , I really don't know the ranout on rotor but I checked the thickness min was 6.3 mm and mine is 6.78 mm all the way around. though I notice a red color on bottom of the rotor I mean just under that side where the pad touch, so I don't know if it get to hot and it get bad ...got a sand paper 400 gritt and sanded the rotor and the pads, one side of the pad had big grove about 1/16 deep. put everything back again and bleed , checked the master had a little bubble when I push the pedal just bleed it from jambo bolt for a a little then finished the bleeding process wityh myty vac . went for about 180 miles ride this afternoon and they didn't lock up at all cross fingers lol. I heard squelling noise though which I know the pad has to be changed since one side had that groove. and that's for now. I enjoyed riding with smile in my face lol. also I start noticing a humming noise from back I don't know if I need to check the bearing maybe they got shot or just the pads toushing the rotor...I am planning to buy new rotor and new pads in few weeks as this things cost me a lot so far ughh . any suggestions on bearing ? and rotor? and pads? what u guys use a lot and have a good luck with parts.
thank you for reading and your support...
Good luck on the brakes. I did mine last year, boy was that expensive!
After sitting there for about 15 minutes waiting for the truck, I tried pushing the bike and it rolled just fine.
If this is what happened to you then the noise from the primary was probably caused by you trying to force the engine to overcome the rear brake. Compensator rattling maybe.
I didn't try to fix anything as I didn't want to risk it happening again. Besides, it gave me an excuse to add some chrome. I replaced the caliper, rotor, and pads. No problems since then.
heated rotor on the left, new on the right.

the red spot that you had in rotor, I have almost the same only mine was like narrower than yours. about 1/4 of inch or so. you are right about the noise from tranny being forced to roll the bike with lock up wheel.
I still get paranoid about the cam install and I ask myself what IF ? lol.
what if I install the pushrods in exhaust stroke instead of compression stroke? will bike ran normal till it broke down completely or it will not ran at all ? will it ran rough all the time???/ too many question , I was gonna post new tread about it lol? what happen if the pushrods installed in wrong stroke?....
I am planning to put new rotor with new pads. as the caliper is new from last year. and the piston don't get stuck when pushed by hand .
I am trying to figure which rotor am gonna get ? HD or aftermarket ? It all depend on money too
. any idea?thanks
Man it is not fan at all . especially on bike. can you imagine if if the front wheel lock up at 70 mph ...
