when i have to go somewhere far away i have used a trailer and or had a friend bring their trailer so we can rotate if a bike breaks down. we were also able to help some people out on the way to laughlin when they broke out of barstow. sucks to wait for a towtruck in the middle of the desert.used to trailer my 9 sec pontiac to sac raceway 80 miles too. trailers serve their purpose. would rather ride sometimes but it's nice to have a safety net to fall back on when your coil burns out in 105 degree heat.
Maybe they should have two types of rallies. One for people who ride their bikes another for people who trailer their bikes there and then spend the whole time at the rally at the nearest bar getting hammered.
Man i have been riding my bike for 40 plus yrs, and have trailerd it alot, just because i want to and various reasons, these kinda guys really make me smile, i bet he still has a mullet and lives in a single wide, his due rag tells it all, some of these guys are so full of themselves
You know I've been to alot of Rallies over the last few years and not once has anyone asked me if I road or trailered down. In the real world it dosen't matter. In reality we are all the same. The same desires and interestes flow through our blood, but like true brothers we have to argue what constitutes a real biker,is it right to trailer to a rally, is it cool or not to ware a Harley jacker, and other questions too deep for one to answer. So like little kids trying to find out who has thebiggest one we will continue to argue, but thats what makes us all so special.
So the next time I see you down the road I promissI will not ask you if you trailered or road down to the rally. I will just buy you a drink and we can talk about those great rides we have had and place yet to see.
I don't care what people do. I agree that it's their own business. That doesn't change the fact that I feel it's a little bit silly to trailer a bike to an event. If it's too far, too cold, the wrong bike or whatever the reason is that it wouldn't work to ride the bike there, park the damn thing and drive your car. Who says you have to ride in circles on your motorcycle after you get there. Chit, pack your camping gear, load the car up and go enjoy the event. Does that make you less of a motorcyclist????

After wading through 3 pages of this crap, I believe I can distill it down to this observation:
Those who trailer see no problem in trailering and loudly say they are no less bikers. Those who actually ride theirs say the others are wusses. Both sides have some validity.
I choose not to trailer but then again I have a Road sofa Ultra Classic. Hell , it rides better than my new F150 supercrew truck. The wife and I have have learned not to overpack, so everything fits in the bags or on the rack. We know we're going to buy some t's so we don't pack those.
I do laugh at those who put on their do rags and chaps and ride in from a couple of blocks or miles away. To me, my best and least stressful times are when I'm riding. But that's just me. Your mileage may differ. Do whatever makes you happy, just don't try to convince me how bad a biker you are if you only have 1000 miles on a 2000 bike.
You always have the heros out there that rode 2000 miles to get somewhere, and then decide everyone that trailers is a puss. Maybe some of us dont have a week or two to take off to goto a rally. Maybe some of us have to haul a$$ down and haul a$$ back to make ends meet.....
