"I just don't get it.", neither do I, the only thing I can figure out is, they like the life style, but don't like riding. []

or if you see my bike on a trailer call 911, it was just stolen.
LMAO...Right On! That statement is SO true. Granted, some H-D's as well as other brands are just not made for the long haul ...

There is not a Harley made, nor any other brand of motorcycle for that matter, that is not capable of transporting a rider and adequate gear across country if the rider has the ballz to try it. People ride bicycles across country for chriss sake. People who make excuses for trailering need to just admit that they would rather drive or that they are scared to venture far away from home on a motorcycle.

If I had a bagger I'd ride to a rally 500 miles away. But going 500 miles with the wife and no place to put any luggage for a 6 day trip on a Street Bob is just not going to happen. With that said I will be trailering to Myrtle Beach in couple of weeks. I don't give a F*ck what anybody thinks about it. It's my bike and it's my decision how I get there. If somebody has that big a problem with let me know, we can always go about back and discuss it like men.[:@]
It was 300 miles and perfect conditions. If you can't handle that, I know a great Honda dealer.

P.S. If we go out back, are you armed? If not, watch what you're asking for tough guy.
jbnl163,

Man you better cool it. You're going to get your azz kicked because you actually believe that amotorcycle is a form of transportation rather than a status symbol.

Bill
What was I thinking? Besides, Punisher is probably twice my size.

jbnl163 what I said wasn't directed to you, just a comment in general, believe me I've been in enough fights throughout my 14 year career, I don't go looking for them anymore they usually find me.I gave up the tough guy role along time ago, Ifound that I win more "fights" with my wits than my hands.

Your gonna love this. There is actually a device that hooks your motorcycle speedometer to the trailer to rack up the miles you would have put on the bike if you had ridden it. It was on here a week or two ago.

I haven't figures out how to get the bike and motorhome to someplace at the same time, driving both. I guess I too will trailer mine but only so i can sleep comfy and shower in the morning.

Would now be a bad time to mention that I tow my 2 bike Kendon trailer with my 35 ft Class A motorhome?

I love to ride - anywhere, anytime, but if the wife and dogs are coming along it ain't happening without the RV and a trailer.Besides, who wants to be cold or soaking wet and miserable for a week when they don't have to be?But most importantly I can bring all the food, booze, and beer I care toconsume with me so I don't have to pay the outrageous prices that locals charge when the rally is in town.

FWIW, last year the wife drove the RV to Sturgiswhile me and a few others rode - the first night out we slept in a tent on the ground somewhere in Wyoming and she slept in an air conditioned RV with all the trimmings somewhere in Colorado. Gee, who got the better end of that deal I wonder?
most rich urban bikers travel with a 40 ft motorhome. Just sayin.
Gonna hafta break this news to thewife rather gently... "Sorry baby, we gottasell your bike and trade in the 35 footer - 8 mpg rig for a 40+ footer 6 mpg rig so we can keep up with the status symbol (RUB) crowd."

Just got back from Laughlin. I couldn't believe how many people trailer their bikes from L.A. It's only 300 miles and the weather is perfect. I just don't get it.
Coming from someone with a windshield and saddlebags, guess I can see why you don't get it. I'd love to have a RK and make those rides. However, I chose to go with a different style that will never include saddlebags, cushy seat or a windshield. So 300 miles at 75 on a badlander seat, nowhere to carry gear, and 75 mph wind pushing me back off the bars is a bit much. What I don't get is why that's so hard to understand.
Sounds like you are in need of a more comfortable bike. Don't take it out on me. I could ride your bike cross country. That's the point here. I chose to be more comfortable.
Too bad you couldn't choose to mind your own business rather than starting a **** stirring post.

This is the kind of **** that ruins communities/forum boards. It ruins it for those that care less. I find it funny that people actually waste time looking at other people in order to find something to criticize. I prefer to ride but have been known to trailer for my own reasons. I won't go into detail because, 1) None of anyones biz. and 2) I don't do anything I choose, to adhere to anyones supposed code of ethics. I could care less what anyone thinks and I care even less of what other people do. I hear/read all this crap on this site but yet at rallies, no one opens there mouth to make these opinionated comments.

If you don't have anything positive to post, please spare us the dreadfully repeated nonsense. This site is one of the last few that I still visit on a regular basis but it seems to be going down the same spiral the others have. A bunch of b!tching and whining and way to much "my way is better" BS.

As I'm sure I'll get a few defensive responses, I'll go ahead and unsubscribe to this thread because I don't care to know how my post made anyone feel. This is just my rant to the recent BS. Take it as you wish.

Post less... ride more!
Well said.

I don't for the life of me get why the hell this blows anyone's skirt up but some of the drama queens need something to bitch about I guess.

Jezz, from a "observation" we are down to name calling, challenges to meet out back, etc.. There are reasons peopletrail, just like reasons people ride. When I ride solo, I ride. When my love of my life is with me for a trip, I trail for her physical needs. She rides when we get there. I don't put anyone down for how they get there. You don't think Ness and Perawitz ride to Sturgis do you? Yes, I have ridden to Sturgis several times over the years, it is normally 1800 plus miles each way for me. Every time I do it, it is an IBA run for me.

What's important, That you ride!
Do I think Ness and Perawitz ride to Sturgis? I don't know about ever time, but I do know that they ride to Sturgis. There have been many magazine articles in the past about their riding. There used to be a group of the more famous builders, including Ness, Perawitz ,Donnie Smith, et. al.that called themselves the "Hamsters". They rode a lot according to the magazine articles.

Bill
Yeah, with their support vehicles following close behind.
Question was whether they ride, and they do. This thread is about trailering a bike to a rally, not ridingthe bikewith the benefit ofa support vehicle.

Bill
So if they sit on the bike while it's on the trailer and make Vroom Vroom noises then that counts too right.

I can't believe people trailer their bikes. Geez. I load mine on the back of the F-150 for long hauls. I'm heading up to Laconia in June from Louisiana. If you think I am riding 1700 miles on my Street Bob, let me take your crack pipe. I am stopping in PA. to meet up with a crew and we are riding from there.
