I have a trailer along with a 2005 Wide Glide and a 2005 Electra Glide Classic...depending on where my wife and I would go, what bike we take, would depend if the trailer would go. With her back issues, couldn't do a trip more than 200 miles on the Wide Glide. The bagger, not a problem..Daytona in March, we would no doubt have to trailer since we still get snow here in PA well into April.
So my opinion, it's not so much how you get there, but that you were able to go.
I ride mine to school, 4 miles a day in the snow, all up hill, there and back. Who tied my dog loose, there he goes, comin' back. Trailering? Who the hell cares? Not me.
I guess I'm one of the group that just doesn't get it.
Before I had my EGC I had a 79 XLHC (sporty) the only time it was trailored anywhere was when I was moving to different states. A total of 4 times. It was never trailored for breaking down or to any rally. I had over 300K miles on it.
It's the ride; not the destination! If you believe it's the destination, not the ride, then sell your bike and buy a camper.
2 weeks a go my wife and I took a trip from Tucson to ride the PCH the 1st stop was in Bakersfield CA, approx 750 miles, to visit my mother. The next day I took my wife a little 400 mile ride to show her the area. in less than 5 day's we put over 2800 miles on the bike. Not once did she complain about the lengths of the day's. And yes we did get butt sore; but as grunt said you can walk that off in a couple of minutes.
Ok, I'll admit it before anyone calls me on it, We had a group of us that rode up to Laughlin and had a support vehicle with the wives following us up. My bikes a 07 and I've got 8600 miles on it, its been on a trailer plenty of times, call it a trailer queen.
I do what Eddie Trodda says he does. I trailer my bike down to within a block of the local Hooters unload it and ride it in like I have been riding all day. Get off rub the behind and bitch about the ride. Gets them every time.
Riding is for my enjoyment. When my *** is sore and I'm exhausted from the wind, it's no longer enjoyment, it's just enduring. Is that a measure of how tough you are or something? Okay, you guys that ride 300 miles are much tougher than me. I'm okay with that. I don't get the guy that thinks being comfortable AND enjoying the HD world can't co-exist. I'm no Iron Butt rider but I have 18K on the harley in less than two years. Does where i put on those miles make that big of a difference? Oh, and when the guy on the side of the road gets his bike picked up from the one with the trailer, bet he doesn't give a s**t anymore, either. LOL
Seriously, I understand the different view (want to ride there and those that choose not to) but to think that you're more of a "biker" than anyone else based on that isridiculous.......to me.
I don't understand why it bothers certain people to see others trailer there bikes. It doesn't bother me. I know bikers that fly down to Daytona and leave there bikes home. They know their bikers and don't care what others think. Do your own thing and let others do theirs.

If I had a bagger I'd ride to a rally 500 miles away. But going 500 miles with the wife and no place to put any luggage for a 6 day trip on a Street Bob is just not going to happen. With that said I will be trailering to Myrtle Beach in couple of weeks. I don't give a F*ck what anybody thinks about it. It's my bike and it's my decision how I get there. If somebody has that big a problem with let me know, we can always go about back and discuss it like men.[:@]

Amen to that Punisher! If my memory serves me correctly, I don't recal anyone else forking over any cash when I bought my trailer, truck or bike.
