40 yrs of ridding and 1st time down could have been worse. Have some serious road rash and a broken leg was on my old bike and new HD is setting in the garage and looks like it will be a couple of months before I'll be riding again. Happy to be here and still kicking.
That was me last year. 40 years, and dropped my Shovel on my leg avoiding two texting minivans that crashed into each other in heavy traffic. The bike came out of it unscathed.

It always could have been worse but a broken leg is right up there on my "it's worse" list. I've ridden with a cast on my left forearm and hand but a leg...no way.
