at what age do you feel that someone should be allowed to make a choice for their own lives? the government says you are an adult at 18, and get the full rights and privileges at 21 (smoking, drinking), which in itself is off-kilter imo. if you're an adult, then drink and smoke if you choose. if you don't want to let me do that, then don't call me an adult until 21.....

just make it at that line. over that age, make your own decision. below that age, we'll make it for you. none of these mickey mouse, 'if you're over 18 it's okay, unless you have a child under the age of 4, then you have to wait until they are 4, but only if you carry $x of life insurance, etc....'

Age is just a number, it has nothing to do with how mature you are.

HMMM. I served with a bunch of 18 year olds. It was nothing to see them in control of multi million dollar equipment. Making decisions that had life or death consequences. Walking around armed well enough to fight a war. But you don;t think they are old enough to make a decision about wearing a helmet. Sounds a little Bloomsburgish to me. Nanny state or free state?

That isnt the group I'm talking about, because I did the same thing at that age.

The group I refer to are the run of the mill 21 year old kids that have no clue about anything.

However I see the point your making. Cant tell that group they can and the other they cant.

yep that's what America is suppose to be about. Freedom.

But somewhere back in time one lawyer with a lawsuit started the whole screwed up mess we have now. Money my boy. Greed. We have slowly sold our freedoms for money, freebies from the government and legislation, for our own safety, to protect us from ourselves. See, we too stupid to know what is good for us.

Helmet laws in general are weird to me, I wear a helmet all the time, but I don't think anyone over the age of 18 should be told they have to.

Screw you anti helmet guys. Take a look at the stats when Michigan repealed their helmet law. Guess what, more people died. And those idiots that died didn't wear helmets. Go figure.

Or that stupid moron that went to an anti helmet rally but ended up dying because he didn't wear his helmet. Oh the irony. Srupid is, as stupid does.

There are better laws that can benefit riders like lane sharing in heavy traffic than the choice to wear a helmet

I haven't worn a helmet since the law changed in TX. My sons were NCOs @21 obviously the Marine Corps though they were mature enough to make decisions. The oldest wears a helmet and the youngest didn't until he was a father , now he does.
Like others have said 18 should be the age. I've never understood, 18 is old enough to kill or die but not old enough to drink or other things.
