Just a follow up to the Fuel Pak test my mechanic was doing. He had 3 bikes (one my 07 Fat Boy)with no fuel management at all running for 100-300 miles. Bikes ran good, spark plugs looked good. We put the Fuel Pak's on the other day and all run good. Really not much of a difference. Was more of a pain in the A$$ to put it in than what it says. My mechanic is a licensed Harley mechanic and it took him an hour and a half to put it in. No chrage for labor anyway since it was a test. One thing that you do have to change if mode 23 from 16 to 50 to make it run good and not get a sputtering sound on deceleration. Thank you FUEL PAK!!! Now I know my bike is safe for sure. Unless you plan on doing engine upgrades in the near future save yourself the money anddon't get the PCIII or Race Tuner and just get the Fuel Pak.
Hello. I was wondering if you got the factory stage 1 download? It is my understanding that the stock rev limiter is set at around 4500. The stage 1 download raises the rev limiter to 6250. The rev limiter can be raised with the PCIII alone by initiating the Revxtend feature.
Stage I download(189.00) + Fuelpak(225.00)
PCIII USB (279.00)
As far as I know, the the rev limiter cannot be raised with potentiometer style devices, only the fuel settings. Mapping style devices allow you to tune fuel settings, raise rev limiter, offer better throttle response, and make decel popping a non-issue. The Fuelpak is cheaper, but the PCIII offers more bang for your buck IMHO. Any thoughts? Have a good one....
Yah, anubisss. No more annoying popping noise. I was so pi$$ed when I first drove off and my bike sounded like a playing card in a fan everytime I down shifted or let off the throttle. I called tech support. It took about 8 hours and Adam called me back. It was that simple. Change mode 23 from 16 to 50 and it runs perfect. All of pipes and Harley models are said to be set at 16 but he said most hated the noise so you can set it at 50 and be fine.
Yes Tinker, it is a way around dyno tuning. I have no desire no upgrade my engine anytime soon. I was not going to do any fuel management system at all but most of the advice here days to do it.
duluoz, I never did the stage 1. I like my bike the way it runs just fine.
My bike truly runs great. Like I said it is a little bit more of a pain to install it because you have to take the battery bracket out and there is no room to work with under the seat.
Just glad it worked. Thanks Vance and Hines for saving me $$$. Now I can get a new seat and bars!!!!

So the end result of the test was little or no difference? If so, how did V&H save you money? Ive had a mechanic friend of mine do the same thing with the PCIII with roughly the same results. You've reinforced my opinion that EFI modules of any kind are complete wastes of money unless you're doing engine modifications. How could exhaust manufacturers sell anything that would damage your bike? All newexhausts are manufactured with respect to EPA laws, and aredesigned model-specific.BTW...nice bike, I'm glad they changed the FB wheel design.
