Worst possible outcome. I hope, and suspect, that the local cops are checking cell phone and front desk phone records for the time period between check in and event. In my opinion the chances that someone working there alerted the bad guys are close to 100%.
RIP Larry.
Or he was followed to the motel when he got into that shithole town, maybe when he stopped for gas or food-that's how a Harley of mine was ripped off. I was followed home.
Once they know where it is, and they want it bad enough, you are screwed.
RIP Larry and and my thoughts are with your family during this horrible time.
Maybe the memorial ride can end at that hotel. I wonder how the scumbags would deal with hundreds of bikers staying there at once. It could send a powerful message.

Personally, I wouldn't want to give the motel the business, but it would send a nice, defiant message to hold a memorial service for him in the parking lot.

Yep but I am also kind of like ya'll come take this one you sons of bitches.
This man was just enjoying life and they not only steal his bike but take his life, with the theft of the bike being their primary objective. They didn't rob him or take any of his other belongings.
We need to organize a memorial ride and do something for his family.
If FB would hand over the mascot, I think it would be a nice gift for his family.

There is a Memorial Ride already planned for next Memorial Day weekend. At the request of his wife it is going to be in the Smokeys, Larry's favorite place to ride.
She has requested photo's be taken, and a scrapbook be made of the ride. This is what she wants.
we where returning from FL,La,memphis 2 days before him and stopped at Lamperts to eat the town did not strike me as crime ridden town.. we had 7 bikes and 5 guns
RIP Larry. When I was riding the Great River Road a few years ago I stopped for gas in MO and talked with some local riders. I told them I was going to ride through some of the towns from Mark Twain novels, like Hanibal. They told me to absolutely not go in these towns. Thankfully I listened. What a shame that you have to stay away from whole areas of the US.
I did have a beautiful and fun ride all the way to Redwing,MN though.
