When ever I buy a new battery I always put it on my charger to ensure that it is fully charged prior to installation. You have no way of knowing how long that new battery sat on the dealers shelf before you bought it. If you actually read the instructions that come with a battery tender it will tell you that the battery should be at a state of full charge BEFORE you hook up the tender.

Deka makes the batteries for H-D. You can buy the same battery without the H-D name on it for much less. Search for "big crank battery"

Check and clean your battery connections, could be something as simple as a bad connection.

if you do end up replcing the battery, get the old one load tested, just to make sure. Sometimes the "bad" battery...was ok.

Spending a $100 and coming home to the same problem is an expensive lesson not soon forgotten.

I bought 2 new atvs in 2011. They stay at the cabin in the northwoods of WI. It gets extremely cold up there. We don't get up there much in winter, That first spring both batteries were shot. I bought batteries and tenders. Never had that issue again. Ever since then I plug all the batteries into tenders.

I am running a 720 cranking amp lithium ion battery with Sumax cables. Yes it was expensive. I am curious how long it will last. Manufacturer specifically states not to put it on a tender.
