So, fine afternoon, day off work, took a ride across beautiful scenic hills & moorland about 15 miles from home and doin a leisurely 40/45mph. There are a lot of sheep out here and it's unfenced so I'm being real careful.A lamb appears from behind it's sleeping mother and runs into the road, I hit both brakes, the rear wheel locks up and slides right, I steer into the slide and the rear now kicks out to the left and I steer into the slide again, the bike now highsides me and I land on my *** and slide down the road half sitting up! No way could I mow a lamb down. Now here's the part that's almostunbelievable, my Wrangler jeans aren't even torn, my leather jacket ain't scuffed, not a mark on my gloves or helmet but my *** hurts ( subsequent examination of same reveals a big red burn peppered with burst blood vessels). The bike has not fared so well - both SE II's badly scuffed, footrest bent, rear axle bolt almostground off, left rear turn signal and mountinggone, handlebars slightly skewed and rubber grip ground away. On the bright side the tins are unmarked, engine cases are fine and the forks don't appear to be twisted. Got back on her and rode home cussing all the sheep in Christendom! Lessons to be learned from this? No not really, just wanted to share the experience! I live to ride another day - once the bike has been fixed!
Glad you're ok ... you can fix the bike. Just curious ... when the rear wheel locked up ... did you keep it locked up?
Yes,if I hadn't I would have hit the lamb for sure, as it was it gave the darn creature a few extra milliseconds to scuttle away, it was very close but this time I had no choice. Normally under emergency braking I wouldn't have locked the wheel up.Yeah, I'm fine thanks. It's strange, it all seemed to happen in slow motion, I can replay the scene in my head!

I can relate to the slow motion thing. I went down once ... and in my minds eye ... I can still see "No Parking" painted in red on the yellow curb ... just before my bike slid into it. I was dodging a fat lady who stepped out in front of me. I landed in a park (went blank at that point) ... the bike came back into the street and hit the lady.

Too bad about the lady, but hopefully she wasn't too badly hurt and I guess you were ok.
Just getting my paperwork together to phone the insurance company tomorrow morning, it's 00.30 here. I should be hitting the sack but there's no sleep in me, guess the adrenalin is still running. My wife is working away tonight, when I spoke to her on the phone and told her about the accident she took it real well, I thought she would belike "sell the damn thing" because she worries like hell when I ride but no, God bless her, she was very supportive and demanded that I get somearmoured jeans, this is the same lady who made me buy a $500 Arai helmet because she read they were safest!
