I ride an 04 Electra Glide Classic. It has just under 26000 miles on the clock. 2 days ago I hit the starter and it seemed to clunk a little bit. About 3 seconds later the engine light came on and stayed lit for about 10 seconds, then went back off. Now everytime I start the bike, the light comes on as normal then goes out, I start the bike, then 3 seconds later the light comes back on for 10 seconds and goes back out again. Anyone got a clue whats up? I guess I'll have to take it to the dealer and hook it up to the scanner.
You might want to check your battery voltage. Sounds like you might have a battery going bad.
Just my .02 worth, that was what was mine was doing last month. I had it hooked up to a scanalyzer that was what it said the problem was and my battery was just 2 yrs old. Good luck, I hope thats all it is.

I never thought of that. I will hook up the Battery Tender when I get home tonight and see if that cures it. Will the light stop coming on if thats the case? It sure would be nice to not have to pay for a scan, if all I need is a battery charge.
Thanks ponesma, some very good info there. I will give it a try and see what comes up. Thanks again.
No Problem, good luck. It was very simple to check and clear the code. I don't know what I would do if it was not for this forum, other then pay the dealer a ton of $$$.
I had a similar problem with the engine light (but not the starter) coming on as you described over a year ago and and read out a "U1097" code. I cleared it the way it said to and it hasn't returned. The only thing Icould remember doing a few daysbefore I noticed this happening wasinstall the Smart Siren II. I have no idea if that caused the code but it never came back once I cleared it.

It was not the battery, I charged it last night, and started the bike to go to work this morning and the light still comes on. I guess I'll have to clearthe codethe way listed above.
